Ed Hammond was a previous owner of the Wasdale Head Inn between 1st March 1975 and Feb 2001. The Wasdale Head Inn is reputed to be the birthplace of rock climbing in the Lake District because Will Ritson (its first owner) created a base from which this activity could be pursued.
