General statement about the institution:	The Special Collections and Archives Department holds some 150 collections of both special collections (printed books, periodicals and pamphlets) and archives (manuscripts, ephemera and mainly unpublished primary materials).
Mountain Heritage collections:	Sheffield University Mountaineering Club Photographs. Photographs, together with later background information, collected by Dr F. W. Jones (1909-1987), co-founder with W.T. Catton of the Sheffield University Mountaineering Club. The collection as a whole consists of 120 photographs which record the life of Freddy Jones; those relating to Mountaineering Club activities during the years 1932 to 1934 number 29.
