Volunteering

The Mountain Heritage Trust recruits volunteers to support its work in making collections more readily available. We try to make volunteering with us as interesting and enjoyable as possible – whether you are volunteering for work experience or as part of a personal interest in heritage or mountaineering.

We are currently recruiting for volunteers to work on the following projects in 2017:

  1. Repackaging collections into archival boxes
  2. Sorting and cataloguing magazines
  3. Cataloguing photographs in the Johnnie Lees Collection

Volunteers will need careful handling skills, the ability to work as part of a small team, a willingness to learn new skills and follow instruction, good attention to detail, and an interest in mountain heritage and/or archives and museum collections.

If you would like to work on one or more of these projects, or if you’d like more information, please contact the Collections Manager, Kelda Roe at: kelda@mountain-heritage.org or telephone: 0770 913 5285 to see how your interests, skills and experience can be matched to a volunteer opportunity.

Volunteers are asked to complete an application form and sign a confidentiality agreement before beginning a placement. We are a small organisation with limited staff to support volunteers so places will be on a first come, first served basis – but don’t be put off, we will have more opportunities at a later date.
