British Women Climb exhibition extended until end of 2018

Mabel Barker cabinet landscapeBack in September 2017 the Mountain Heritage Trust’s British Women Climb exhibition opened at Keswick Museum; exploring the experiences of women climbers, their challenges to social expectations, and their mountaineering achievements across history.

Now, one year on, MHT is pleased to announce that the exhibition will remain open beyond September 2018 until the end of this year. Given the success of the exhibition the decision has been made to extend the viewing period, allowing even greater numbers to learn about the growth of women’s mountaineering.

Included in the exhibition is a range of historic artefacts: Lake District icon Mabel Barker’s rope and boots, original Ladies’ Alpine Club artefacts, and loans from the Fell and Rock Climbing Club, the Pinnacle Club as well as world bouldering champion Shauna Coxsey‘s shoes and championship medal.

The exhibition is installed at Keswick Museum, for which access information and opening times can be found here.
