Joe Tasker Online Exhibition

Welcome to Savage Arena: The Legacy of Joe Tasker, an online exhibition which has been curated by the Mountain Heritage Trust’s staff and passionate volunteers, supported by the Tasker family, and made possible through a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Explore mountaineer Joe Tasker’s life and legacy through photographs, documents and objects in the Joe Tasker Collection. From Joe’s early life and training as a Catholic priest to early climbing in the Alps; and from expeditions to the Himalaya, Karakoram, and China, to his legacy as a photographer, filmmaker and inspirational writer.

Click on the images to find out more about Joe, his life and his mountaineering exploits.

A copy of the Joe Tasker Collection catalogue can be found Here. This collection will be available to access at the Mountain Heritage Trust’s new home at the Blencathra Centre from late March 2017.

The Mountain Heritage Trust would like to thank the following volunteers for their contributions to the online exhibition: Lindsay Cowen, Mary Webster, Susan Collyer, Jodie Dailey, and Rebecca Riley.
