PETER FOSTER, has been interested in the history of mountaineering since his schooldays. After retiring as a consultant physician, he has written numerous articles for the Alpine Journal and a biography of physiologist and mountaineer, Thomas Graham Brown, ‘The Uncrowned King of Mont Blanc,’ which was short-listed for the Boardman-Tasker prize, 2020. He is a member of the Alpine Club and still climbs and skis in the Alps most years.
