MHT at opening of Carlisle Archives Centre

As part of it’s on-going development, the Mountain Heritage Trust is pleased to announce it has secured almost £50,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project is designed to examine the Trust's current position and consider its role for the future, including how it can raise awareness of this nationally important collection and make it accessible to a wider range of people.

MHT were involved in the celebrations to open the new Carlisle Archives Centre earlier today. Sir Chris Bonington, MHT trustee, officially opened the centre which benefitted from a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Children from Petteril Bank School were dressed as Edwardian mountaineers to reflect the age of Lady Gillford’s House which was renovated as part of the new facility.
