Sir Chris Bonington and MP Rory Stewart pay a visit

As part of it’s on-going development, the Mountain Heritage Trust is pleased to announce it has secured almost £50,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project is designed to examine the Trust's current position and consider its role for the future, including how it can raise awareness of this nationally important collection and make it accessible to a wider range of people.

Rory Stewart, MP for Penrith and the Border, and Sir Chris Bonington, mountaineer, recently visited the Blencathra Centre to view the Mountain Trust Heritage archive which relocated to the centre earlier this year. It was also an opportunity for both of them to meet staff and students at the Centre and emphasise the importance of outdoor education in the UK.
