Tonight – Sir Edmund Hillary Memorial Lecture

As part of it’s on-going development, the Mountain Heritage Trust is pleased to announce it has secured almost £50,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project is designed to examine the Trust's current position and consider its role for the future, including how it can raise awareness of this nationally important collection and make it accessible to a wider range of people.

Tonight, Alan Hinkes, the first Briton to summit all fourteen 8000m peaks will deliver a lecture about the last climb to complete the set “Kangchenjunga Finale and the 8000m Peaks”.  The lecture is the fourth sponsored by the Himalayan Trust UK and will include a tribute to George Band, OBE who completed the first ascent of Kangchenjunga with Joe Brown in 1955.
