Unseen footage of Doug Scott

In February 2020, our Trustee and legendary mountaineer Doug Scott came to talk to us on film about his love of climbing and his support for the Mountain Heritage Trust.

Sadly, Doug passed away in December 2020 - the loss of a true mountaineering great. Some of our interview with Doug didn't make it into the final film so we are delighted to share a previously unseen clip with you today. Doug speaks about his motivation for climbing and the mental health benefits that the intense concentration climbing requires can bring. We hope it prompts fond memories of a much-missed legend of British mountaineering and friend to many.

Filmed by Land and Sky Media for a project funded by The National Archives.
